Now, cross-country skiing is very demanding and hard work, like running; and these women are elite athletes. But -1C is not that cold if you keep active and the sun is shining. White Tshirts are or rather white clothes are more comfortable than black ones on hot days simply because they keep you cooler. Black colour absorbs all the heat (light) from the sun and you end up sweating buckets. Whereas the white bounces off any heat or hight and keeps you cooler. That also makes whites pleasant to the eye in the summers. That would depend on my activity levels and other circumstances. If I’m working in the garden, even on a hot summer day, I will not remove my shirt, nor my broad-brimmed hat because I will get a sun burn.
